From Flanders to Wallonia "the Nomad District" crosses Belgium in an annual tour that has been going on for centuries. Its inhabitants, the showmen, are nevertheless well established in the modernity. In the banality of their daily lives and the cycle of life. The film wonders about the unconscious tradition that goes through them. What are the impalpable residues? Would it be that of our traditions, of us ... In the community to which we unconsciously belong. This immersive film portrays a community that is insidiously endangered by the regulation of cities and the disrepute of popular culture.
Een reis van een jaar samen met de nomadenwijk
Van Vlaanderen tot Wallonië doorkruist de “Nomadische wijk" België tijdens een jaarlijkse tour die al eeuwen aan de gang is. Haar bewoners, de kermisexploitanten, zijn niettemin goed ingeburgerd in onze moderniteit.
Aan de hand van de banaliteit van hun dagelijkse leven en van hun levensloop bevraagt de film zich over de onbewuste traditie die hen beweegt. Wat zijn die ontastbare residuen? Zij het onze eigen tradities. in de gemeenschap waartoe wij onbewust behoren. Deze meeslepende film portretteert een vertederende gemeenschap die op een verraderlijke manier wordt bedreigd door de regulering van steden, het verval van de populaire cultuur en de stedelijke veranderingen die we allemaal meemaken.
Un voyage d'une année qui suit le Quartier Nomade
De la Flandre à la Wallonie "le Quartier Nomade" traverse la Belgique dans une tournée annuelle qui se perpétue depuis des siècles. Ses habitants, les forains, sont pourtant bien implantés dans notre modernité.
Dans la banalité de leur quotidien et du cycle de la vie. Le film s’interroge sur la tradition inconsciente qui les parcourt De quels résidus impalpables s’agit-il ? Serait-ce celui de nos traditions, de nous… Dans la communauté à laquelle inconsciemment, nous appartenons.
Ce film en immersion dresse le portrait d'une communauté attachante qui insidieusement est mise en péril par les réglementations des villes, par la déconsidération de la culture populaire, et par les mutations urbaines que nous vivons tous.
